Fairtrade at the Centre

The Fairtrade Foundation recently awarded our Centre the status of Fairtrade Temple, which meant making some pledges

So we’ll be …

  • Serving Fairtrade tea and coffee at all meetings and events we are responsible for
  • Moving forward on using other Fairtrade products such as sugar, biscuits and fruit
  • Promoting Fairtrade during Fairtrade Fortnight and during the year whenever we can

Paul Whitehead from the Centre Team commented:

Trying to make ethical consumer choices is undoubtedly complex, difficult, and has many areas of grey, but this feels like a step in the right direction.

We have many generous people regularly donating teas, coffees, soya milk and sugar to the Centre’s tea area: this is hugely appreciated and long may it continue!

It would be fantastic if people really got behind the Centre’s status as a Fair Trade Temple now, and extended their generosity to the farmers of the developing world by buying, bringing and sharing fairly-traded products where possible.

Fair trade chocolate in shop

Where can I buy Fairtrade products to bring to the Centre?

In the Centre’s shop for a start! We now stock delicious (and vegan) Fairtrade tea, coffee, chocolate and snacks — let us know what you think of them.

The Co-op just round the corner also has a good range of tea, coffee and sugar at a very reasonable price.

Just ask reception what’s needed, or have a look in the cupboards. Thank you!
